The Ethereum Foundation's new leadership plans network expansion, aiming to increase capacity by 100 times within four years.

Ethereum Foundation's New Co-Executive Director Explains Future Development Strategy

Recently, Ethereum completed the Pectra network upgrade, entering a new stage of development. The new co-executive directors Tomas Stanczak and Shay Wong gave an interview to elaborate on their work ideas and future plans.

The two executive directors first introduced their respective backgrounds. Shay Wong has a background in computer science and joined the foundation in 2017, previously serving as a core protocol researcher and participating in the transition to proof of stake. Tomas Stanczak founded the core development infrastructure company Nethermind in 2017 and has extensive experience in areas such as MEV solutions.

When discussing their understanding of the new positions, the two expressed their commitment to becoming managers of the ecosystem, focusing on key areas and empowering other participants. They hope to improve the internal structure of the foundation, accelerate processes, while maintaining an open attitude to listen to feedback.

In response to community feedback, the two admitted that the foundation has shortcomings in execution speed, communication, and connecting with users. They stated that they will improve by optimizing processes and enhancing communication, while also introducing more product-centered thinking.

In terms of specific goals, they proposed three core strategies: expanding L1, expanding Blobs, and improving user experience. In the short term, they plan to expand Ethereum by 3 times, 10 times next year, and 100 times within four years. The pace of hard fork upgrades will also accelerate to once every 6 months.

The two executive directors also clarified the positioning and boundaries of the foundation. They stated that the foundation is more of a coordinator than an owner, intervening when certain resources are lacking in the ecosystem, but mainly supporting relevant organizations' growth through funding and other means.

Overall, the new leadership has demonstrated a commitment to reform, hoping to enhance execution efficiency while maintaining the core values of Ethereum, strengthening communication and interaction with the community, and promoting the rapid development of the ecosystem.
