German Chancellor Scholz: Prepared to speak with Putin again

Jinshi data, December 12th news, German Chancellor Scholz told the German RTL TV station that he is prepared to have a new round of telephone conversation with Russian President Putin. Scholz said that the previous conversation left him "disappointed" because Putin "just repeated his formula for resolving the Ukraine conflict." However, Scholz argued that it is necessary to make it clear to the Russian side through this call that it cannot expect Germany to weaken its support for Ukraine. At the same time, this conversation also needs to urge the Russian leader to withdraw troops in order to establish the foundation for peaceful development. "This is something that must be done, and I will do it again. But people should not have any illusions about this," Scholz said. Scholz had previously called Putin on November 15th. Before that, the two leaders had a phone call on December 2, 2022. According to the Kremlin, in the recent conversation, they discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, and Russia-Germany bilateral relations.
